The Triangle comprised of the three anchor cities, Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill, is consistently lauded as one of the best places to live and work in the country. The real estate market is much more stable than many areas. But did you know that the area is becoming greener all the time?
Raleigh hosted three national energy and environmental conferences in the new LEED certified convention center National Association of Home Builders Green Building Conference (2010), Electric Power Research Institute’s Plug-In International Conference (2011) and National Solar Conference (2011). Raleigh is one of the three national test sites for plug-in stations for electric cars. Some of the nation's most respected green builders call the Triangle home. Lonnie Poole Golf Course designed by Arnold Palmer at North Carolina State University, Raleigh won an award for the best Public Golf Course in 2010. The course is Audubon certified and serves as a learning lab for turfgrass and professional golf management students. Last but not least, ENERGY STAR homes comprise 30% of the local new home market in 2011.
